Two days after a Dallas federal bankruptcy judge ordered former billionaire Sam Wyly to pay the Internal Revenue Service $1.1 billion, the same judge issued a memorandum allowing him to claim only a $155,000 homestead exemption on his home.

Wyly, a Texan, values the home at $12 million and the local tax appraisal district values it at $9 million.
