In the first six months of 2016, Texas law enforcement agencies reported to the Office of the Texas Attorney General, their officers fired weapons in 169 incidents, leading to injuries and, in 49 of those incidents, death.
In 10 of those shooting-related deaths, persons who were killed carried no deadly weapon during their encounter with the police.
