A West Texas landman hit with an $8.5 million adverse judgment in 2015 is now suing his lawyers. Mark P. Hardwick of Midland alleges they were grossly negligent by engaging in improper forum-shopping that cost him and his companies “valuable affirmative claims” and wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars in attorney fees and litigation costs.

Hardwick, Mark P. Hardwick Oil & Gas Properties and Mark P. Hardwick LLC are seeking more than a $1 million in damages from Midland firm Cotton Bledsoe Tighe & Dawson, shareholder Rick Strange and former shareholder Susan Richardson. The plaintiffs bring a malpractice/negligence and gross negligence cause of action against the defendants.
