With the recent rise in terrorist attacks around the world, more attention is being paid to protecting key U.S. infrastructure. Because of the fundamental role that the oil and gas sector plays in the United States, it is a prime target for cyberattackers.

Texas Lawyer recently spoke to Randy Sabett, special counsel at Cooley in Washington, D.C. Sabett is vice chair of Cooley’s privacy and data protection practice group and is also a member of the firm’s technology transactions group. The following discussion has been edited for length and style.
