Judge Ben Hardin of the 23rd District Court was flown by helicopter to a Houston hospital Thursday after being struck by a pickup truck, local officials said. A 2015 GMC truck hit the judge while he was crossing a street at lunchtime outside the Brazoria County Courthouse in Angleton, according to police.

Angleton Police Cpl. Cameron Parsons said no charges had been filed in connection with the incident, but the investigation is continuing. “At this point, we don’t suspect that drugs or alcohol were involved,” he said.
