At 95 years of age, Thomas Reavley of Houston is one of the oldest federal judges in the United States who still hears cases.

Appointed to the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1979 by then-President Jimmy Carter, Reavley previously served as a state district judge in Austin from 1964 until 1968 and as a justice on the Texas Supreme Court from 1968 until 1977.
