In advance of a Sept. 19 Fort Worth federal court hearing at which Exxon Mobil Corp. will seek to halt the Massachusetts Attorney General’s investigation into allegations it misled consumer about climate change, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office has led a 10-state coalition, which filed a friend-of-the-court brief supporting the oil company’s strategy and proposed preliminary injunction.

In their amici brief, filed Sept. 9, Paxton and the other states’ AGs argued that AGs generally “should not employ legal power to tip the scales in a policy debate.”
