The U.S. Department of Labor and business groups are fighting in three federal courts over a proposed new rule that would require employers seeking legal advice on labor issues to abide by additional reporting obligations.
Business advocates who contend the department’s so-called “persuader rule” would trample attorney-client protections, convinced a federal judge in Texas in June to issue a nationwide injunction that blocks implementation of the regulation.
