Bankruptcy lawyer Hugh M. Ray III joined Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman on Monday as a partner in Houston, coming from McKool Smith, where Ray practiced with his father, Hugh M. Ray.

Ray said he was attracted to Pillsbury’s large bankruptcy and restructuring practice that includes lawyers in New York and to its strength in energy transactions, which is useful for doing bankruptcy work for energy companies. Ray, who joined the firm’s insolvency and restructuring practice, does complex reorganization, bankruptcy and commercial litigation.
