U.S. District Judge Sam Cummings of the Northern District of Texas Wednesday issued a permanent injunction holding unlawful a federal Department of Labor regulation that would require employers seeking legal advice on labor issues to abide by additional reporting obligations.
Business advocates who contend the so-called proposed “persuader rule” would trample attorney-client protections had previously convinced Cummings to issue a nationwide temporary injunction that blocks implementation of the regulation and the Texas federal judge halted the regulation permanently.
