Texas tort reformers couldn’t have hoped for more favorable confluence of events.
One month before Texas lawmakers are scheduled to start a new session, during which tort reformers are expected to lobby to curb hail-damage lawsuits filed against insurers, a Texas federal judge issued a stern warning to Steve Mostyn, a well-known Houston plaintiffs lawyer who files such suits and financially supports Democratic candidates. And then on Thursday the American Tort Reform Association issued its annual report on “judicial hellholes.”
