In keeping with his campaign promise “to eliminate all barriers to responsible energy production,” President-elect Donald Trump chose E. Scott Pruitt, the Oklahoma attorney general, to lead the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Critics of the Obama administration’s regulations confronting climate change applauded Pruitt, who, with other conservative state leaders, sued the EPA over several key regulations. New York’s attorney general, Eric Schneiderman, who’s defended Obama administration initiatives, called Pruitt a “dangerous and unqualified choice.”
