Big firm Texas lawyers are reaching out to energy clients to share good news: an expected—and expensive—regulatory tweak aimed at the offshore drilling industry has been postponed indefinitely.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), which manages oil and gas leasing in the Outer Continental Shelf, withdrew previously issued and hotly contested orders that would have cost such clients millions, according to lawyers from King & Spalding and Haynes and Boone who advise energy clients.
