U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant of the Eastern District of Texas granted Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s motion to dismiss a civil lawsuit filed against him by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In an amended complaint, the SEC had alleged that Paxton failed to disclose—despite investors’ reasonable expectations that he do so—that he would receive a commission when they bought stakes in a technology startup.
