Pamela R. Metzger, a criminal justice scholar, has been named director of the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law’s new Deason Family Criminal Justice Reform Center. Beginning July 1, Metzger will oversee the center’s independent research and its development of educational opportunities dealing with issues ranging from wrongful convictions to over-incarceration. In 2005, Metzger captured national attention when she and others helped indigent defendants left incarcerated without legal representation after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.
Michael D. Cuda has joined K&L Gates in Dallas as a partner in the firm’s banking and asset finance practice. He counsels clients on domestic and international energy and oil and gas financing transactions. Artoush Varshosaz has been promoted to partner in K&L Gates in Dallas, where he concentrates his practice on complex commercial disputes and bankruptcy litigation.
