With 27,190 votes cast, the race for State Bar of Texas president-elect is headed for a runoff.

Austin solo practitioner Joe K. Longley, who claimed a spot on the State Bar ballot through the petition process, will face Chad Baruch, a shareholder in Dallas-based Johnston Tobey Baruch, in a runoff election to be held May 11 through 5 p.m. May 25. The winner will serve as president of the more than 100,000-member State Bar from June 2018 to June 2019.
