With the Enron Corp. debacle, the finger-pointing reached its peak the week of Jan. 14. At least Vinson & Elkins partners — who advised the scandal-ridden energy company and now confront numerous questions about their roles in the events leading up to the company declaring bankruptcy — can hope the worst of the finger-pointing is over.

Darts thrown in the firm’s direction came from a variety of sources — congressional leaders, plaintiffs lawyers and even Robert Bennett, the mWashington, D.C., attorney whom Enron has hired to defend the company. All released documents or made statements that focused negative attention on the venerable Houston law firm.
