Arthur Andersen’s defense case in its obstruction of justice trial began slowly on May 27, but picked up steam as the fourth week of the trial wore on amid continuing skirmishes between prosecutors and defense counsel.
The first witness for the defense, Andersen partner Richard Corgel, the North American managing practice director, testified that the firm’s document retention policy is aimed at ensuring work paper files are complete and fully supported, and unnecessary confidential client documents are destroyed.
