David M. McCoy of Childress has been a prosecutor and a state district judge, but his next appearance in court will be as a defendant. On Nov. 29, a Childress County grand jury indicted McCoy on charges of theft by a public servant, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and abuse of official capacity, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
