U.S. District Judge David Folsom of the Eastern District of Texas has denied EchoStar Communications Corp.’s motions for judgment as a matter of law and for new trial in its legal battle with TiVo Inc.
In a Nov. 27 order in TiVo Inc. v. EchoStar Communications Corp., et al., Folsom noted that he previously decided most of the issues that EchoStar raised in its motions. Folsom also addressed EchoStar’s argument that the terms in TiVo’s patent claims are indefinite, finding that all of the terms at issue “would be understandable to a person of ordinary skill in the art,” according to the order.
