Two doctors who were sued by a woman who claimed they failed to promptly diagnose her with Hodgkin's lymphoma have been dismissed from the litigation because of the statute of limitations, a Lackawanna County judge has ruled.

Dr. Jamie S. Stallman and Dr. John P. Iannone of Radiological Consultants Inc. were released from the case, captioned Peoples v. Philbin, by Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas Judge Carmen D. Minora, who granted their motion for judgment on the pleadings. Dr. Joseph Philbin and Physicians Health Alliance remain as defendants in the case.

Minora wrote in the court's memorandum that plaintiff Stephanie Peoples added Stallman and Iannone as defendants too late by way of an amended complaint, rejecting Peoples' argument that the deadline could be tolled. Peoples was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2009 and sued Stallman and Iannone in 2013. Peoples filed her original complaint against Philbin in 2011.
