Former Philadelphia Traffic Court Judge Michael Lowry has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for lying to the grand jury in the ticket-fixing case.

U.S. District Judge Lawrence F. Stengel of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on Wednesday afternoon laid out Lowry's perjury sentence, which in addition to the 20-month prison term, included a year of supervised released paired with 100 hours of community service. Stengel declined to impose a fine on Lowry, citing that Lowry could not afford to pay it.

In July, the two-month trial ended with Lowry and former Judges Robert Mulgrew, Thomasine Tynes and Willie Singletary being cleared of fraud charges, but convicted of making false statements. Lowry had testified before the grand jury that he had not given anyone special consideration based on their connections and had treated everyone in his courtroom equally.
