Mergers and group departures had significant impacts on Pennsylvania firms' head count numbers—in both growth and decline—in 2014, according to data reported by Legal affiliate The National Law Journal.
There were 26 Pennsylvania-based firms on the NLJ 350, a ranking of the country's 350 largest law firms based on head count. Of the 24 that were on the list last year, 15 saw head count increases while nine saw declines in attorney ranks between 2013 and 2014.
According to the NLJ, there were 147,518 lawyers at the 350 largest firms in 2014, representing just a 0.6 percent increase in head count from the year before.
