Justice Correale F. Stevens, whose interim appointment to the state Supreme Court ends in December, plans to continue his judicial career by taking senior status on the Superior Court, while another judge plans to end her tenure on the court.

Stevens said he has spoken with President Judge Susan Peikes Gantman about returning as a senior judge. Meanwhile, Judge Cheryl Lynn Allen recently notified Gantman that she plans to retire, effective Sept. 4.

Stevens ran in the primary election for an opportunity to stay on the state's highest court, but he did not receive enough votes to continue to the general election. Allen also ran unsuccessfully in the primary.
