Grand Jury: Ex-Harrisburg Mayor's Corruption Included Vampire Kit
A former mayor of Harrisburg has been charged with allegedly siphoning public funds from civic projects, including the retrofitting of the city's incinerator, to purchase a host of artifacts and memorabilia, such as a vampire hunting kit, that he allegedly planned to use for a museum.

A former mayor of Harrisburg has been charged with allegedly siphoning public funds from civic projects, including the retrofitting of the city's incinerator, to purchase a host of artifacts and memorabilia, such as a vampire hunting kit, that he allegedly planned to use for a museum.
Stephen R. Reed, who was mayor from 1982 to 2010, faces hundreds of charges, including more than 100 counts of theft by receiving stolen property and more than 150 counts of misapplication of entrusted property. A grand jury recommended that Reed face the charges.
During a press conference Tuesday, state Attorney General Kathleen Kane said Reed was charged under corrupt organizations statutes, and that an investigation into those who possibly accepted bribes, or facilitated Reed's alleged corruption, is still ongoing.
