Dilworth Paxson is closing its Washington, D.C., location and choosing not to rebuild its New York office after a lateral defection that left that location without any attorneys, the firm’s CEO has confirmed.

CEO Ajay Raju, who joined the firm from Reed Smith in early 2014, said Dilworth will continue to serve clients in those cities, but said the firm’s revamped model isn’t based on the traditional law firm focus on geographic and head count expansion. Instead, Raju likened the firm’s model to a Netflix or Amazon.
