Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane, who is facing criminal charges over allegedly leaking grand jury secrets, has called upon the courts to investigate numerous alleged leaks of confidential information regarding the case against her and proceedings under way to revoke her law license.

On the afternoon of Sept. 18, Kane's attorneys, Gerald L. Shargel and Ross M. Kramer of Winston & Strawn, issued a statement asking the court to “conduct a full inquiry” into the alleged leaks. The release added Kane anticipates raising these issues in legal motions as well.

“An elected official is being railroaded out of office, and forced to defend herself before a jury pool that has been intentionally and irrevocably tainted,” the release said. “This is absolutely and fundamentally wrong. It should not be allowed to stand.”
