The Pennsylvania Senate passed an amendment to the Administrative Code of 1929 that would make the chief executive officer of the state Turnpike Commission a governor–nominated and state Senate-approved position.

According to SB 171, the governor would nominate a candidate based on the state constitution and “by and with the advice and consent of a majority of the
members elected to the Senate.”

Currently, the turnpike commission elects its own CEO.
