A proposal is in the works to revise and possibly raise court filing fees at the First Judicial District.

Although details are scarce, the court is expecting that the proposal will include at least a 10 percent increase on a base fee to cover costs of potentially increasing fee amounts for conflict-counsel attorneys.

At a recent Philadelphia City Council budget hearing, Deputy Court Administrator Kevin Cross said that a bill is in the works to revise both the civil and criminal filing fees. He said that although he was unsure what the increases will look like, he expected the revisions could result in a 10 and 15 percent increase of revenue generated by those fees.
