In response to embattled Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams’ request to have the newest charges against him thrown out, federal prosecutors claimed Williams is “inappropriately” attempting to try the case before actually going to trial.

In a response to Williams’ motion to dismiss filed in Philadelphia federal court, Assistant U.S. Attorney Vineet Gauri wrote that Williams’ arguments urging U.S. District Judge Paul S. Diamond of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania to toss charges that he used law enforcement vehicles off duty were meritless. Williams had also filed a separate request to dismiss charges in a May 9 superseding indictment that he misused campaign money.
