A proposed House bill would make it a second-degree misdemeanor for a person to record or broadcast a photo, video or audio of a proceeding or person in a hearing room, courtroom or entrance or exit of a court.

The bill would apply to recordings in a courtroom not approved by the court or presiding judicial officer or as provided by the rules of the court.

HB 149 passed the House on third consideration unanimously, 194-0. It was referred to the state Senate's Judiciary Committee on May 31.
