Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is shuffling its administrative lineup, creating a new leadership position and bringing on a new chief business development officer.

Randy Vulakovich, who served as Buchanan Ingersoll's chief business development officer for six years, has moved into the newly created role of chief administrative officer, the firm announced Tuesday. Melissa Croteau, formerly the chief marketing officer for Nixon Peabody, was hired to take Vulakovich's place.

In the CBDO role, Croteau will oversee all of the firm's marketing, communications and business development functions and will also work with firm leadership on strategic matters. She is based in the Washington, D.C., office. Croteau spent more than 14 years at Nixon Peabody, including five as the firm's chief marketing officer, until she left in 2015. Afterward she worked as a consultant to law firms of all sizes.
