Philadelphia Police Department Deputy Commissioner Joseph P. Sullivan told a federal jury Monday that he felt “uncomfortable” after a lunch meeting where District Attorney Seth Williams repeated a request to help his wealthy benefactor skirt airport security.

Sullivan, who as a chief inspector commanded the police detachment at Philadelphia International Airport, testified in Williams’ corruption trial that he originally complied with Williams’ request to help ease Mohammed N. Ali’s airport security woes because he believed Ali, a Jordanian-born naturalized U.S. citizen, might be subject to racial profiling at security checkpoints.
