Several large Pennsylvania-based law firms devoted notably more time to pro bono work in 2016, according to a report released this week by The American Lawyer.

In a year when pro bono hours ticked upward nationally among firms participating the survey, Pennsylvania firms also saw a slight increase overall, from 48.7 hours per lawyer to 53.4, based on The American Lawyer's data.

Dechert, as the top Pennsylvania-based firm, ranked high above the rest, with the seventh highest pro bono score nationally and the 12th highest number of pro bono hours per lawyer. The firm reported an ­average of 107.4 hours per lawyer, showing a major increase from 2015, when the average hours per lawyers 
were 78.1.
