An amendment that would have required lobbyists to electronically file and report expenses and would have doubled the maximum penalty for prohibited actions by lobbyists was nixed 98-101 on June 30 in the House.

State House Rep. Bryan Cutler, R-Lancaster, had sponsored HB 1175, which would have required registering lobbyists, lobbyists making changes to their registration statement or terminating their registration to file their documentation electronically.

Quarterly expense reports would have also required electronic filing. Registration and reporting forms, under Cutler's proposed bill, would have faced penalties under 18 PA.C.S. Section 4904. Section 4904 states that unsworn falsification to authorities is considered a misdemeanor and a penalty of at least $1,000.
