Larry Krasner, the Democratic candidate for district attorney in Philadelphia, said he is planning for his criminal and civil defense law practice to be absorbed by Philadelphia firm Greenblatt, Pierce, Funt & Flores.

The move is expected not only to allow Krasner more time to campaign for the general election in November, it is also aimed at clearing up any conflict issues that might arise if he, a criminal defense attorney, is elected as the city's top prosecutor. He is set to face off against Republican Beth Grossman, a former assistant district attorney, in the general election in November.

Krasner, who has done criminal defense and civil rights work since 1993, announced his plans Monday, saying he wanted to avoid any appearance of impropriety in the lead-up to the November election, or in the event that he is elected as the chief law enforcement officer for the city. Greenblatt Pierce is a 12-member firm based in Center City, and focuses on criminal defense, civil rights, personal injury and employment cases.
