Actions taken by state legislators more than two years ago are now beginning to impact major private construction projects across Pennsylvania.
The amendments to Pennsylvania’s Mechanics’ Lien Law of 1963 are specifically relevant for owners, contractors and subcontractors. Effective Dec. 31, 2016, the new requirements are a result of Act 142, which was passed in 2014 to establish procedures for the construction industry to follow and a statewide web database where notices under the Mechanics’ Lien Law can be filed.
