With the First Judicial District’s selection of Kelley Hodge as Philadelphia’s interim district attorney, many in the criminal defense bar expressed high hopes the veteran prosecutor has the background and temperament to guide the office through a troubled time of transition.

On July 20, the FJD’s Board of Judges named Hodge to be the city’s top law enforcement officer until the next full-term district attorney takes over in 2018. With nearly 15 years’ experience in the District Attorney’s Office, Hodge is a veteran prosecutor, who also worked as the Safe Schools Advocate in Pennsylvania’s Commission on Crime and Delinquency and as the University of Virginia’s first Title IX coordinator.
