In the latest ranking of America's 20 “A-List” firms, Pennsylvania firms were conspicuously absent once again. But some did well in a new aspect of the rankings—the percentage of women in equity partnership.

Among the 20 who made The American Lawyer's 2017 A-List, many were national firms, while others were based in New York, Los Angeles or Washington, D.C., and one is international.

The rankings are based on revenue per lawyer (RPL) and pro bono commitment, associate satisfaction, diversity and the percentage of female equity partners. The last of those factors was a new metric to the A-List scoring this year, and it had a noticeable impact on several firms' rankings.
