Cohen, Placitella & Roth's Rachel A. Placitella co-chaired the Ethics for Civil Trial Attorneys seminar held by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education.

As part of a panel of New Jersey civil trial attorneys, she spoke about ethics in openings and closings.

Placitella is a member of Cohen Placitella and handles complex litigation matters, including asbestos litigation, products ­liability and personal injury matters.

She is an experienced litigator handling each case from early investigative stage through settlement or trial.

BorgerMatez attorneys Gary L. Borger, Bruce P. Matez and Deena L. Betze ­attended the Collaborative Practice Growth and Excellence seminar.

Borger has concentrated on family law since entering private practice in 1977, gaining experience in handling complex ­divorces involving alimony claims, child custody and parenting issues, child ­support, relocation applications to the court for a parent to move out of state with children, property and debt distribution, and applications to the court for protection from domestic violence and abuse.

Matez has over 26 years of experience handling all types of family law ­matters including but not limited to divorce, custody and parenting time, child support, alimony/spousal support, adoption, domestic violence, equitable distribution of ­marital property, equitable allocation of marital debt, child abuse and neglect matters and same-sex civil unions and domestic partnerships.

Betze, for over 24 years, has represented men and women in divorce, mediation, custody, adoption, domestic violence, premarital agreements, civil union agreements and other family law-related matters.

Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young ­partner Marissa Parker served as a panelist at the Philadelphia Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division and Large Firm Management Committee boot camp on Nov. 3.

Parker's panel was titled, “You Passed the Bar, Now What: How to Succeed in Your First Year as an Attorney, and How to Gain Experience.”

Parker, who serves as chair of Stradley Ronon's hiring committee, represents corporate, mutual fund, institutional and nonprofit clients as both plaintiffs and ­defendants in complex commercial ­litigation matters, with a focus in ­securities, investment management, health care and Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

Elected and Appointed

Kellie L. Rahl-Heffner of Gross McGinley joined an advisory committee for Lehigh Carbon Community College's paralegal studies programs.

As an adviser, Rahl-Heffner is scheduled to serve a three-year term, providing ­feedback on the college's paralegal ­curriculum and making recommendations.

Rahl-Heffner is a family law attorney who provides counsel to families in sensitive legal issues including divorce, child custody, guardianship, alimony and adoptions.

She joined the firm in 2017 after ­serving as an attorney with North Penn Legal Services for 10 years, providing legal ­advice and representation to low-income clients in family law, unemployment, landlord/tenant and other legal matters.
