Michael J. Torchia is set to be awarded with the Honorable Joseph M. Nardi Jr. Distinguished Service Award from Rutgers Law School Camden on Thursday.
Torchia is an alumnus of Rutgers Camden School of Law class of 1991 and is a member of its adjunct faculty along with other alumni in its Trial Advocacy course.
Since his graduation, he has served in various roles in its Alumni Association including chancellor from 1998-2000.
Torchia is a managing member of the 27-attorney firm Semanoff Ormsby Greenberg & Torchia in Huntingdon Valley.
He has practiced employment law since his graduation from Rutgers Law School.
He represents local, regional, national and international businesses of all sizes in state and federal courts throughout the country on a variety of litigation matters.

Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young associate Kristen M. Feden gave opening remarks and participated at the 18th annual 5K DASH Against Domestic Violence on Oct. 22 in North Wales.
Laurel House provides support and safety to domestic abuse victims in Montgomery County.
Feden concentrates her practice on complex commercial and class action litigation and white-collar defense.
Prior to joining Stradley Ronon, she was assistant district attorney in the Trials Division of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, where she served as captain of the elder abuse unit and the domestic violence unit, and as a member of the sex crimes unit.

The Philadelphia Bar Foundation added Laura Powers as the organization's director of marketing and development and Paul Kirk as director of operations.
Powers will manage community outreach, partnerships and the bar foundation's mission of advancing access to justice.
She brings more than 25 years of marketing, media and management experience as well as expertise in development and capacity expansion and most recently spent time as the chief marketing officer of Furia Rubel Communications Inc.
Kirk will be filling a role the bar foundation has never had before: expanding its finance and administrative strategies in conjunction with innovative technology and database management.
He previously held a leadership role at Comcast for more than 10 years, was operations manager at Olde City Services Corp., worked on Lynn Yeakel's campaign for U.S. Senate and was a contributor to the Legal.
Powers and Kirk will be based in the bar foundation's Philadelphia location that is shared with the Philadelphia Bar Association.

Through Patrick Harrington's efforts, splitsecnd and MANNA have partnered on a beta test, wherein splitsecnd provided MANNA, at no cost for three months, with a product for its delivery trucks that will allow MANNA's operations staff to monitor and track daily meal deliveries in real time for greater efficiencies and safety using splitsecnd's unique solution for delivery fleets.
At Dilworth Paxson, Harrington represents a wide range of businesses and individuals in litigation matters, including complex litigation involving financial institutions and insurers.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
