A federal judge has declined to reopen a closed trademark case over bottlestoppers along with denying a motion for contempt in the case.

U.S. District Judge James M. Munley of the Middle District of Pennsylvania denied defendant Steer Machine Tool & Die Corporation's motions in plaintiff SS Niles Bottlestoppers case against it that ultimately resulted in a settlement.

Steer claimed SS Niles violated a consent order stemming from the settlement.

In his opinion, Munley wrote that “no consent order and agreement was ever entered by the court in this case – the parties entered into a settlement agreement between themselves.”
