Pennsylvania State Capitol.

Members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives are proposing legislation that would require an individual employed by the state, its legislature, executive office or state courts to repay attorney fees after being found guilty or liable in a sexual harassment case or other related matters.

Reps. Alexander T. Charlton, R-Delaware; Kristin Phillips-Hill, R-York; and Judy Ward, R-Blair, issued a memo that would “require that a guilty or liable party be held accountable to the taxpayers of Pennsylvania and require that they repay any costs and/or fees associated with their representation that were paid for with taxpayer dollars.”

In-house and outside counsel attorney fees after a guilty or civil liability determination would be repaid by the individual, based on their memo.

The memo only specifically stated sexual harassment as a misconduct warranting repayment if a state employee was found guilty or liable and their attorney fees were tax funded.
