Braverman Kaskey lawyers and staff volunteered as “guest chefs” at the Ronald McDonald House.
The Ronald McDonald House is a refuge for families of severely ill children who come from all over the country to receive the medical services of Philadelphia's hospitals.
The Braverman Kaskey staff made dinner for about 20 families who stay at the house to be close to their children while they are receiving treatment.
Speakers
Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young white-collar defense practice group chair Michael J. Engle presented “Ethical Challenges in Criminal Defense and Prosecution” at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's 2017 Criminal Law Update on Dec. 14 in Philadelphia.
Engle and co-presenter Ellen Brotman discussed ethical issues that arise in the preparation for and litigation of criminal trials, as well as counsel's ethical obligations in a post-conviction setting.
The session explored the duty of confidentiality to clients, the duty of candor to the court and the challenges presented when an attorney or former attorney is subpoenaed by a prosecuting authority to provide documents and present testimony in a variety of contexts.
Engle has more than 15 years of experience in federal criminal cases, complex white-collar defense matters and internal or parallel investigations on behalf of corporations and other entities.
He has represented white-collar defendants in complex, high-stakes federal and state prosecutions and has guided corporations and other organizations through government investigations.
Elected and Appointed
Anapol Weiss promoted partner Tracy Finken Magnotta to shareholder and associate Shayna Slater to partner.
Magnotta concentrates her practice on pharmaceutical liability, products liability, class actions and other complex civil litigation.
Slater concentrates her practice on mass tort, products liability and other civil litigation.
Magnotta's promotion makes her the firm's first female shareholder.
Slater's promotion to partner means that the firm will have more female partners (3) than male partners (2).
