Sen. Lisa M. Boscola, D-Lehigh, said she will introduce a bill that would allow homestead property owners to deduct their real estate taxes from their state income taxes, in light of the new local and state tax deduction cap of $10,000.

Citing the recently passed federal revision package and its $10,000 maximum deduction of state and tax deductions, Boscola said her proposal would provide “relief” to property owners.
According to media reports, New Jersey lawmakers also have expressed concern over the deduction cap and have suggested allowing residents to deduct their property taxes from their state income tax.
