A state representative wants to abolish the Pennsylvania inheritance tax.

State Rep. Greg Rothman, R-Cumberland, declared the state-level “harmful” tax as double taxation on inheritance. According to Rothman's memo regarding his planned elimination of the state inheritance tax, the state has no general exclusion amount that allows the first dollar of the taxable estate subject to tax. The federal inheritance/estate tax, according to Rothman, does include a general exclusion amount and is adjusted for inflation.
