Pennsylvania Sen. Christine Tartaglione, D-Philadelphia, proclaimed in a recent memo her intention to support incrementally raising the minimum wage in Pennsylvania to $15, and $12 for tipped employees, by 2024.

After Jan. 1, 2025, and each Jan. 1 thereafter, Tartaglione said the minimum wage rate would be increased by an annual cost of living adjustment calculated by the secretary of labor and industry. The secretary's calculation would be based on the percentage change in the consumer price index for all urban consumers for Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, according to her memo.

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, the current minimum wage in Pennsylvania is $7.25. Employees are required to pay tipped employees at least $2.13 an hour in the state.
