Edward J. Sholinsky, partner at Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis, was appointed to serve as vice president of the board of directors for HIAS Pennsylvania.
Sholinsky has been a HIAS Pennsylvania board member since 2012.
A litigator with experience across multiple industries, Sholinsky often represents financial institutions, insurance policyholders and media organizations at the trial and appellate levels.

Retired Judge Mark I. Bernstein is the new president of the eastern Pennsylvania chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
Former president Mark J. LeWinter will remain active as treasurer of the organization.
ABOTA is a national organization of plaintiff and defense lawyers devoted to promoting the civil jury trial system, civic education and professionalism in court.
The chapter sponsors biannual receptions, the National Masters in Trial CLE open to all members of the bar and Civility at Trial programs.

This month, 249 teams from 291 high schools across Pennsylvania are set to compete in district and regional levels of the Statewide Mock Trial Competition sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.
During the competition, eight-member student teams are given the opportunity to argue both sides of the case in an actual courtroom before a judge.
The district and regional levels of the competition will continue throughout February and March.
At the conclusion of the local competitions, 14 high school mock trial teams will advance to the Pennsylvania Bar Association Statewide Mock Trial Championships, scheduled March 23 and 24 in Harrisburg.
The winning team of the state championship will represent Pennsylvania in the national mock trial finals set to be held May 10–12 in Reno, Nevada.

Kimberly Rice, president/chief strategist of KLA Marketing Associates and author of “Rainmaker Roadmap: A Step-by-Step Guide to Building a Prosperous Business” presented an educational program “9 Steps to Mastering the Client Relationship for Greater Prosperity” sponsored by the Middlesex County Bar Association.
In her presentation, Rice examined the three pillars to strengthen client service delivery including the power of proactive communications, investing time into client relationships and adding ongoing value.
Further, Rice outlined how to introduce effective client retention strategies into all client engagements.

On Feb. 8, Post & Schell internal investigations and white-collar defense practice group chair Ronald H. Levine is set to testify before the United States Sentencing Commission on behalf of the USSC Practitioners Advisory Group.
Levine will testify about several proposed amendments to the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, advisory rules intended to create more uniform, proportionate and transparent treatment at sentencing of individuals and organizations convicted of federal crimes.
Levine was appointed chair of the practitioners advisory group in October 2016.
The group is comprised of private criminal defense attorneys appointed from each federal judicial circuit, as well as at-large appointees.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
