Reger Rizzo & Darnall's Harris J. Chernow, chair of the firm's franchise and distribution practice group, was appointed co-chair of the Montgomery Bar Association's franchising committee.
The committee provides a forum for and educates MBA members on issues pertaining to franchising and the increasingly important role franchising is playing in the business world.
Chernow has developed a national franchise practice representing franchisors, franchisees and distributors of all industries, along with his corporate and business, retail development and leasing practices.
In addition to his service to the Montgomery Bar Association, Chernow is active in many other legal- and franchise-related organizations, including the American Bar Association's Forum on Franchising, the Georgetown Law Hotel and Lodging Legal Summit, the International Franchise Association's legal symposium task force and the American Association of Franchisees & Dealers, among others.

Morris Wilson named David R. Jacquette shareholder in the firm.
Jacquette obtained his law degree from Temple University's Beasley School of Law.
He practices in civil litigation, including personal injury and commercial litigation.
Jacquette volunteers with the Montgomery Child Advocacy Project by providing free representation to children who have been abused.

Mark C. Alexander, Arthur J. Kania Dean and Professor of Law, announced the appointment of Edward Stephen as associate dean for development and alumni relations for the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law.
Stephen was selected following a national search.

Landman Corsi Ballaine & Ford promoted Daniel Gillin in Philadelphia and Charles Mondora in Newark, New Jersey, to member.
After completing a state court appellate clerkship in 2008, Gillin joined the firm where he has represented clients in hundreds of cases brought in Pennsylvania and New Jersey courts.
Mondora's practice focuses on the defense of transportation, professional liability and general litigation matters in state and federal courts of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, where he has obtained no cause decisions at arbitration, summary judgment dismissals of cases with six- and seven-figure demands, and sanctions for frivolous lawsuits.

In 2017, the Philadelphia Bar Foundation gave almost $17,000 in total to Katherine Burdick of Juvenile Law Center, Stephanie Costa and Elizabeth Yaeger of HIAS Pennsylvania and Steven Larín of Nationalities Service Center as winners of its Morris M. Shuster Public Interest Fellowship.
The Morris M. Shuster Public Interest Fellowship program provides educational loan repayment assistance in the form of forgivable loans to qualifying Philadelphia legal aid attorneys.

The Justice Michael A. Musmanno Award is given annually to the person who best exemplifies the same high integrity, scholarship, imagination, courage and concern for human rights as exhibited by late state Supreme Court Justice Michael A. Musmanno.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
