• On Feb. 27, Drexel University's Thomas R. Kline School of Law, in conjunction with the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, will host the Sheppard Fellowship Reception, from 5:30-7 p.m., at the law offices of Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads, 123 S. Broad St., 28th St,, Philadelphia. The bar foundation's Honorable Albert W. Sheppard Scholarship Fund supports a law student in a year-long clerkship position with the Commerce Case Management Program in Philadelphia. Join Dean Daniel M. Filler of Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law in celebrating the accomplishments of the 2017-2018 Scholarship Fund Fellow, Kalani Linnell. Cocktails and light refreshments will be served. • On Feb. 27 the AIDS Law Project is hosting Quizzo, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at National Mechanics Bar & Restaurant, 22 S. 3rd Street, Philadelphia. Quizzo is one event in a series of events that will be offered by the AIDS Law Project during 2018 to celebrate its 30th Anniversary. The Honorable Quizzo Judge Yolanda French Lollis (aka the AIDS Law Project's managing attorney) will be presiding. Prove that you and your team are expert witnesses on Philadelphia, the AIDS Law Project and general trivia. The winning team will bring home a $100 gift certificate to National Mechanics Bar & Restaurant. The second-place winners will receive four tickets to the AIDS Law Project's 2018 Summer Movie Party. • On March 2, Mazzoni Center Legal Services will host its 2018 “Justice in Action” Awards Ceremony and Luncheon from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., at Loews Philadelphia Hotel, Commonwealth Hall, 1200 Market St., Philadelphia. Each year “Justice in Action” brings together legal professionals, law students, and others to raise funds for and awareness about Mazzoni Center Legal Services, the only program offering free legal services tailored to address the needs of low-income LGBTQ Pennsylvanians. • On March 15, the Support Center for Child Advocates presents “The Children's Docket 2018–Session 2: Specialty Courts Part I–Crossover Court.” This training series is specifically designed for Child Advocates volunteer attorneys and is meant to provide more detailed information about the ins and outs of handling a child abuse case and how to prepare for particular hearings. • On March 21, the Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network Excellence Award Banquet will be held from 5 -9 p.m., at the Hilton Harrisburg, One North Second St., Harrisburg. Michael G. Bongiorno, Andrew Scott Dulberg and Elizabeth E. Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
